Orlando, Fla.- - Four straight hits to start the bottom of the fourth inning, including three consecutive doubles, broke open a scoreless game for UCF. That would be all the Knights would need, in an 8-0 run-rule victory over The University of Tulsa on Saturday afternoon at the UCF Softball Complex. UCF improves to 25-14 on the year, while TU falls to 17-14 overall. The Knights are 6-3 during Conference USA action, with TU now 5-4.

The Golden Hurricane posted four hits on the day, including a double by junior Stephanie Chomicki. Sophomore Lauren Lindsay, junior Brooke Smart and senior Lindsey Tower all recorded singles for the Hurricane as well.

Sophomore Jackie Lawrence took the loss in the pitching circle for the Hurricane, throwing five innings and striking out a pair of UCF batters. Freshman Lauren Menke pitched the final two-thirds of the sixth inning for TU, striking out two Knights as well.

Tulsa will jump out of conference play with a pair of mid-week games. On Wednesday, TU will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the annual Border War. TU will play Oklahoma State at 3 p.m., then take on Arkansas at 7 p.m. The Hurricane will return to the friendly confines of the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex on Saturday, Mar. 29, to host East Carolina in a three-game C-USA series.
