The University of Tulsa women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to SMU on Thursday night and concluded the season with a 7-10-2 record and a 4-7 mark in Conference USA. SMU moved to 7-10-1 overall and 5-5-1 in the league.

"I am proud of the fact that we never gave up tonight," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "We played really well and we had our chances, but the ball didn't bounce our way. SMU is a good team and they found a way to counter us. We just came up short tonight."

Kenzie Scovill put the Mustangs on the board in the 18th minute off a low cross from Shelby Hartweck, and Logan May gave SMU a two-goal cushion in the 33rd minute to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

Hartweck made it 3-0 in the 68th minute, but Shannon Locke prevented the shutout with her goal in the 85th minute for Tulsa.

Locke led TU's attack with three shots, while Emily McElrath, Rachel Garcia and Jennifer Kacergis each had two attempts. Katie Bykowski logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up six saves.

SMU out-shot the Golden Hurricane, 18-11, including a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal. Tulsa, however, had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

"Our 10 seniors will be sorely missed," Cussen said. "Each one has really contributed in different ways this year and we are sad to see them go."
