Tulsa Pummels Southern Nazarene 82-47 in Exhibition Game

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Jerome Jordan had a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds in leading Tulsa to an 82-47 victory over Southern Nazarene in an exhibition contest at the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Monday night.
Senior guard Ben Uzoh added 12 points and a team-high seven assists, while sophomore Steven Idlet had 12 points, five rebounds and three blocks. Junior Justin Hurtt added 11 points as 10 Golden Hurricane players got in the scoring column. No SNU player scored in double digits as Marchello Vealy led the way with nine points.
Tulsa shot 58-percent from the field, while limiting SNU to just 27-percent shooting for the night. Southern Nazarene scored the first basket of the game on a Xavier Alexander layup, but a Justin Hurtt three-point basket on Tulsa's next trip down the floor gave the Hurricane a lead it would never relinquish.
Tulsa went ahead by double digits on a Ben Uzoh layup to make it 15-5 at the 14:41 mark of the first half. SNU cut Tulsa's lead to single digits three times before the Hurricane would take a 20-10 lead with 10:19 to play in the fist half. The Hurricane built that first-half lead to 19 points and ended the half with a 42-25 lead.
After intermission, Tulsa kept its lead between 12 and 19 points for the first eight minutes until a steal by freshman Donte Medder and a jumper by Hurtt put the Hurricane over 20 points, 57-36, with 11:46 remaining in the game. SNU was unable to cut the Hurricane lead to under 20 points the rest of the way.
Jordan tallied 10 points and nine rebounds in the second half as the Hurricane added to its 17-point halftime lead, building its margin to 39 points with 2:26 to play in the game.
The 35-point victory was a tune-up to the regular season that starts on Friday night for the Hurricane against St. Mary's. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm at the Reynolds Center.
