The University of Tulsa women's soccer team dominated Louisiana-Monroe, 7-0, on Sunday evening in the final game of the Crowne Plaza Tulsa Invitational at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU moved to 2-1-1 on the season, while ULM fell to 1-3 overall.

"I am definitely pleased with tonight's performance and it is great to win our own tournament," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "We played really well, took advantage of our opportunities and were able to get a lot of our players into the game. Our depth will really help us this season, and being able to get almost everyone playing time tonight is crucial going forward."

Danielle Hughes and Jennifer Kacergis each netted two goals for the Golden Hurricane, while Kayla Chambers, Stephanie Aitken and Shelbi Steele scored one goal apiece.

Aitken put the Golden Hurricane on the board in the seventh minute as she drilled one into the back of the net from 20 yards out off a cross from Emily McElrath. Just a little over two minutes later Hughes gave TU the two-goal cushion off a pass from Kacergis.

Kacergis kept the scoring going for Tulsa as she tallied a goal in the 22nd minute and Chambers put one in in the 33rd minute, giving the Golden Hurricane a 4-0 lead heading into the break.

In the second half, Hughes punched in her second goal of the night off a pass from Rachel Garcia at the 55:42 mark and Kacergis picked up her second goal at the 72:14 mark. Steele knocked in the final score in the 81st minute off a forward pass from Jasmine Mendiola.

Of Tulsa's 16 shots, 10 attempts were on goal and seven went into the net. Kacergis led the attack with five shots, three of which were on goal, and had two goals and one assist for five points on the night. Katie Bykowski logged all 90 minutes in goal and earned two saves.

"I am especially pleased with how Jenn played tonight," Cussen said. "We've asked her to move into the midfield this season and she has taken on her new role very well. For her to be able to still step up and get two goals tonight was great."

TU will return to action on Friday and Sunday in the New Mexico Invitational, where Tulsa will face Kent State and New Mexico, respectively.
