Softball to Host NPF `Back to School Tour'

The Golden Hurricane will take on stars of the National Pro Fastpitch league in an exhibiton game Sunday, Oct., 17, at 4 p.m.

TULSA, Okla. - As a finale to the fall season, the Tulsa softball team will take part in the National Pro Fastpitch "Back to School Tour" and play the professional all-stars in an exhibition game Sunday, Oct. 17, at 4 p.m. at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex.

TU is one of several softball programs around the country taking part in the touring event, featuring some of the biggest professional and former collegiate stars. Tickets for the game are $10 for adults, $5 for students college-aged and younger, and children five years old and younger get in free.

Included on the NPF roster are (with alma mater in parentheses): Amber Flores and Samantha Ricketts (Oklahoma), Cat Osterman and Megan Willis (Texas), Shanel Scott (Oklahoma State), Danielle Lawrie (Washington), Francesca Enea (Florida), Nicole Trimboli (Nebraska), Lauren Lappin (Stanford), Jamee Juarez (Ohio State) and Angeline Quiocho (BYU).

Through seven games so far this fall, Tulsa has eight players hitting better than .300, and six players hitting over .400. Nine players have an on-base percentage of .385 or better. The Golden Hurricane is hitting .343 as a team, with 17 doubles, and 32 runs scored on 32 RBI.

Hurricane pitchers carry an ERA of 1.17, allowing just 10 runs, with 57 strikeouts to 11 walks. Freshman Aimee Creger, who has not allowed an earned run five appearances and 18.0 innings, with 24 strikeouts to just three walks. Senior Jordan Kinard has a 0.47 ERA, allowing just on earned run in four games and 15.0 innings of work. She has struck out 17 batters and walked none.

TU is led in hitting Creger, who is hitting .500 (7-for-14) with a double and two RBI, a .571 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage. Sophomores Caitlin Everett and Samantha Cobb are hitting .450 and .429, respectively. Everett has three doubles and a pair of stolen bases, while Cobb has three doubles, a home run, seven RBI, six runs scored, a .714 slugging percentage and a .455 on-base percentage.

Freshman Jill Barrett leads the team with 11 hits and is tied with Cobb with seven RBI, and has scored five runs. She hits .423 and has four doubles and a triple. Senior Lauren Menke is hitting .417 with a pair of RBI and a double. Senior Kelly Chapman has driven in four runs and scored five runs for the Hurricane.
