Miami, Fla. - Ashley McInnes scored two goals and led the 17th-ranked Tulsa men's soccer team to a 5-1 win over FIU on Saturday night at the FIU Soccer Stadium in Miami, Fla. The Golden Hurricane moved to 9-5-1 on the season and 3-3-1 in Conference USA, while the Panthers fell to 7-9 overall and 1-6 in the league.

"We played really well in the first half," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We connected and combined well, our movement was good, we created a lot of chances, and we pressed well on both sides of the ball. The second half opened up a little bit and FIU scored a nice goal, but Ray came up with some big saves to keep it from being a much tighter game. We really finished off the game well and now we have to prepare for UCF."

Austin Neil put the Golden Hurricane on the board in the 16th minute as he knocked in a goal off an assist from Omar Mata. McInnes scored two minutes later from inside the box and then again in the 29th minute off an assist from Neil to give TU a 3-0 advantage.

In the second half, Nicolas Rodriguez scored for the Panthers in the 49th minute, but that would be the only goal for FIU.

Mata scored a goal in the 74th minute and then Matt Boullt drilled in a pass from Mohammed Abdalla in the 90th minute for the final 5-1 score.

McInnes had a team-best five shots, while Mata had four attempts and Blaine Gonsalves took three shots. Ray Clark logged all 90 minutes in goal and earned seven saves.

TU had a 22-14 advantage in shots, including a 11-8 lead in shots on goal, while both teams had seven corner kicks.

Tulsa will conclude the regular season against UCF on Friday, Nov. 5th. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
