Whiting, Stones, Wright Earn C-USA All-Academic Honors

IRVING, Texas - Three members of The University of Tulsa cross country teams were named to the 2010 Conference USA All-Academic Teams, as selected by the league's sports information contacts for cross country.
Senior Katie Wright and juniors Paula Whiting and Carl Stones were the three recipients from the Golden Hurricane squads.
All three members earned their first conference academic honors for cross country and are all exercise sports science majors.
Wright maintains a 3.44 GPA and was named to the Dean's List in fall 2008. She has been in the top three for the Golden Hurricane all season, helping to guide the team to the NCAA Championship for the first time in school history and also win the 2010 C-USA team title.
Whiting owns a 3.90 mark in the classroom and was named to the President's List in both fall 2009 and spring 2009. She led Tulsa in all but one race this season and finished third at regionals, earning All-Midwest Regional honors. The third-place finish tied the school record for best finish at regionals.
Stones has a 3.67 GPA and has earned Dean's List accolades for three semesters at Tulsa. This season, Stones finished in the top three for the Golden Hurricane in all but one meet and helped lead the team to the Conference USA title.
The all-academic team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a starter or key reserve on their team. Four seniors, seven juniors and four sophomores make up the two honorary teams.
