Softball Travels to Face Oklahoma Wednesday

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa softball team travels to Norman, Okla. for a midweek showdown with 11th-ranked Oklahoma at 6 p.m. at Marita Hynes Field at the OU Softball Complex.

The game will be televised on Cox Cable channel 117 in Tulsa and channel 124 in Oklahoma City. Live stats will be available via Gametracker.

Tulsa (7-7) is coming off a weekend in which it won four games, sweeping through the Tulsa Embassy Suites Invitational.

The Golden Hurricane is hitting .306 (115-for-376) on the season with 72 runs, 70 RBI, 12 doubles, 12 home runs, 54 walks, a .434 slugging percentage and a .396 on-base percentage. TU pitchers carry a 3.36 ERA in 91.2 innings, allowing 87 hits, 53 runs, 44 earned runs, 45 walks and 110 strikeouts, and a .249 opponent batting average.

Tulsa is led in hitting by senior right fielder Lauren Lindsay who is hitting .463 (19-for-41) with 11 runs, 14 RBI, two doubles, four home runs, 12 walks, a .878 slugging percentage, and a .582 on-base percentage. Freshman center fielder Caitlin Everett hits .350 (14-for-40) with six runs, 10 RBI, two doubles, five walks and a .404 on-base percentage. Freshman shortstop Samantha Cobb leads the team with 18 RBI and is hitting .347 (17-for-49) with nine runs, four home runs, three walks, a .653 slugging percentage and a .385 on-base percentage.

In the circle, junior Jordan Kinard is 1-2 with a 2.44 ERA and has allowed 23 hits, 14 runs, 10 earned runs, 22 walks, 43 strikeouts and a .219 opponent batting average in 28.2 innings. Senior Jackie Lawrence is 2-3 with a 3.71 ERA and has allowed 44 hits, 23 runs, 21 earned runs, 14 walks, 41 strikeouts and a .282 opponent batting average in 39.2 innings. Freshman Kalynn Schrock is 4-2 with a 3.90 ERA and has allowed 20 hits, 16 runs, 13 earned runs, nine walks, 26 strikeouts and a .227 opponent batting average in 23.1 innings.

Tulsa is looking for its second straight win over a ranked opponent, going back to last season. TU defeated #10 Oklahoma, 5-3, in the Norman Regional on a three-run walk-off home run in an elimination game. TU has not won two straight games over ranked foes since 2004 when it beat #14 Fresno State in a two-game series.

Oklahoma (11-2) is hitting .310 (100-for-323) with 84 runs, 78 RBI, 19 doubles, three triples, 20 home runs, 51 walks, a .573 slugging percentage, and a .418 on-base percentage. OU pitchers carry a 1.64 ERA in 81.0 innings, allowing 44 hits, 19 runs, 19 earned runs, 26 walks, 96 strikeouts and a .158 opponent batting average.

Oklahoma is led in hitting by junior outfielder Chana'e Jones who is hitting .400 with seven runs, 10 RBI, a .714 slugging percentage and a .476 on-base percentage. Freshman catcher Jessica Shults hit .385 with nine runs, 26 RBI, seven home runs, a 1,026 slugging percentage and a .455 on-base percentage. In the circle, the Sooners are led by sophomore Kirsten Allen, who is 3-0 with a 0.94 ERA in 22.1 innings, and has allowed 13 hits, three runs, six walks and 17 strikeouts. Freshman Keilani Ricketts is 7-2 with a 1.60 ERA in 48.0 innings, allowing 22 hits, 11 runs, 14 walks and 65 strikeouts.

Tulsa trails the all-time series against Oklahoma, 31-7. The Golden Hurricane won the last meeting with the Sooners, a 5-3 win in the NCAA Regional at Norman. OU won the two games played in the regular season in 2009. The two teams split the season series in 2007 and 2008 with each team winning on its home field. Oklahoma won both games in 2006. TU head coach John Bargfeldt is 3-6 in his career against Oklahoma.
