Tulsa Golfer Rob Laird Named as All-America Scholar

Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa men's golfer Rob Laird was named as a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Laird was a two-time Conference USA All-Academic selection, and a second team all-C-USA selection for two seasons as well.
The Tulsa senior, who played his prep golf at nearby Jenks High School, received his bachelor's degree spring of 2009 and maintains a 3.46 GPA in the MBA program. He played in a total of 36 career tournaments, and was named C-USA Golfer of the Week twice in his career, once as a junior and as a senior.
Laird shared the team-lead with a 73.9 stoke average in his 36 rounds this year. He also placed among the top-30 in six tournaments this season with his best performance being fifth-place at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational.
To be eligible for the Cleveland Golf/ Srixon All-America scholars award an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, and participate in 70-percent of his teams competitive rounds and have a stroke average under 76.0.
Laird is the 25th Golden Hurricane golfer to receive GCAA All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
