Tulsa, Oklahoma -

The Tulsa women's soccer team crushed UALR, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium. The Golden Hurricane captured the Crowne Plaza Tulsa Invitational team title for the second-straight season, and started the year with a 2-0 mark, the best start since 2003.

"I am just very pleased with the way we played today and the overall weekend performance," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "We are happy to be 2-0, but we are disappointed we gave up a goal today. We haven't given up a goal since March, going 17 hours of college soccer without allowing a goal. It was also great to get a lot of our student-athletes some playing time and I am excited about the year to come."

Jordan O'Brien scored her first collegiate goal off a free kick at the 16:21 mark, and Claire Nicholson picked up her second goal of the season five minutes later off a cross from Kelsey Killion. Stephanie Aitken scored back-to-back goals, coming in the 26th and 45th minute, and Danielle Hughes knocked in a goal with just two seconds remaining in the first half to give TU a 5-0 lead heading into the break.

The Trojans' Danielle Dunsworth punched in a goal off an assist from Kristen Semko at the 80:00 minute mark to prevent the shutout.

Aitken came off the bench and led TU with seven shots, including three on goal, while Bradi Hinch had five shots and Killion added three attempts. The Golden Hurricane combined for 31 shots, including 14 on goal, for the day, while holding UALR to just four shots.

Katie Bykowski logged 62:57 in goal and Chelsea Smith finished out the contest for Tulsa, while Jane Picarelli had five saves and Michelle Pittman picked up four saves while splitting time for the Trojans.

Tulsa will return to action on Friday, Aug. 27th, taking on interstate rival Oklahoma. Game time is set for 7:35 p.m. at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
