Houston scored a late goal in a double overtime 1-0 victory over the Tulsa women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon at Robertson Stadium in Houston. TU fell to 5-5 on the season and 0-2 in Conference USA, while UH moved to 7-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the league.

"I thought the girls played really hard, with a lot of intensity and fire," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "I think especially in the second half we settled down and started to play with purpose, but we were just not able to finish our chances. Maddie Jones did a good job today. We asked her to play multiple roles and to play for almost the entire game and I am proud of her effort."

Neither team scored a goal in the first 90 minutes or the first overtime period, but the Cougars' Kaitlin Thulkin scored the Golden Goal at the 105:19 mark to win the game for UH. Thulkin found the back of the net off a cross from Kylie Cook and one-timed it in for the game-winner.

Claire Detter, Kelsey Killion, Claire Nicholson, Stephanie Aitken and Rebecca Handley each attempted one shot, while Katie Bykowski logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up nine saves.

Houston outshot Tulsa, 20-5, including a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal. UH also had a 6-2 lead in corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Friday, Oct. 1st at Marshall. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. at Sam Hood Field in Huntington, W. Va.
