The Tulsa women's soccer team fell, 2-0, to Rice on Sunday afternoon at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU went to 7-4-2 on the season and 1-2-1 in Conference USA, while the Owls moved to 8-3-1 overall and 3-1 in the league.

"I think Friday night's game took a lot out of us physically and emotionally," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "We looked a little tired today and we didn't have as much pep in our step. Rice is a good team and we have to play our best to beat them and we didn't. We got some momentum back, but we couldn't sustain it. We haven't had one easy game, so the season has caught up to us a little bit today. We'll rest a little more this week and get ready for UAB and Memphis."

Alex Burton put Rice on the board with just 9:30 ticked off the clock as she punched the ball in from 12 yard on the left side. Annie Kadota gave the Owls a two-goal cushion in the 77th minute off a left-footed goal from 18 yards out.

Claire Hulcer had a team-best two shots, one of which was on goal, while Lindsay Kirch and Emily Hahn each had an attempt on goal. Katie Bykowski had three saves in 90 minutes between the posts.

The Owls had a 12-6 lead in shots, including a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal, and had a 7-4 lead in corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Friday, Oct. 7th at UAB. Game time is set for 7:00 pm in Birmingham, Ala.
