TULSA, Okla. - Senior Paula Whiting (Indoor Track) has maintained a 3.93 grade-point average in exercise sports science. The Alexandra, New Zealand, native won both the Mile and the 3,000 meters at the 2011 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Houston this past weekend.
She ran the mile in 4:50.91 and captured the 3,000 meters in 9:31.00, which was less than one second off the C-USA meet record. Whiting earned 20 of Tulsa's 76 team points, leading the Golden Hurricane to a school-record second-place finish. The men's track and field team also finished second.
