Last Week's Results
MEN'S BASKETBALL (13-10, 6-3 C-USA)
Won at Memphis 68-65 (The Golden Hurricane won back-to-back games in conference play for the first time this season, and in the process picked up a win at Memphis for the first time since 1971. Four players scored in double figures, led by junior forward Steven Idlet and his 17 points and seven rebounds. Freshman guard Jordan Clarkson came off the bench to add 15 points, sophomore guard Scottie Haralson dropped 13 and senior guard Justin Hurtt scored 11. TU was outshot 40-34 and only hit four trey's, but a 22-for-27 effort from the free-throw line bested the Tigers' 18-for-25 effort.)
Defeated Houston 76-71 (OT) (TU built a 12-point lead early in the second half, but the home team found itself trailing by three with less than 10 seconds to play. Hurtt swished a trey over two defenders with 8.6 seconds to play to send the game into overtime, and the Golden Hurricane dominated the extra session to take down the Cougars at Reynolds Center. Both Haralson and Hurtt scored 22 points, and Idlet added his fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 boards. TU outrebounded Houston 53-32 and overcame a 37 percent evening from the field and a 52-percent effort from the charity stripe. Haralson started the game 5-for-5 from behind the arc and finished the game with a career-high-tying six trey's.)
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (5-11, 1-7 C-USA)
Lost to UCF 61-48 (Tulsa dropped its fourth-straight C-USA contest in a tightly-battled game. Senior guard Tatum Beer hit all four of her three-point attempts and finished with 14 points, and freshman forward Loren McDaniel added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore guard Taleya Mayberry put together another all-around performance with six points, five rebounds, five assists, three steals and one block for good measure. The Golden Hurricane was outshot 40 percent to 34 percent, and TU was just 1 of 4 from the free-throw line.)
