Student-Athlete of the Week
Week of April 11 - 18
Junior Carl Stones (Outdoor Track) has maintained a 3.73 grade-point average in exercise sports science. The Round Rock, Texas, native set the school record in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase at the Mt. SAC Relay's this past weekend. He ran a school-record time of 8:50.12 in the Olympic Elite heat of the event. His previous best was 8:58.43, which he ran last season.

FOOTBALL
Offense won Spring Game 52-40 (With a scoring system that saw each side of the ball benefit in certain situations, the offense outscored the defense 52-40 for the victory. Senior quarterback G.J. Kinne competed 16 of 20 passes for 152 yards and three touchdowns, while his main target was sophomore Jordan James with five receptions for 65 yards and one TD. Senior Damaris Johnson led all barriers with 60 yards on two attempts, while he also caught three passes for 17 yards and one TD. Sophomore Trey Watts gained 42 yards on five carries for the Tulsa offense.)
MEN'S GOLF
Competed at the Aggie Invitational (Tulsa finished in a tie for eighth at the Aggie Invitational. TU carded a 54-hole total 1,138 at the par-72 Traditions Golf Club in College Station. Sophomore Chris Worrell finished 18th with a seven-over par 223. Freshman John Young Kim and junior Stephen Carney tied for 24th, junior Arie Fauzi placed 54th and freshman Johannes Veerman placed 60th.)
ROWING
Won the SIRA's (Tulsa medaled all five boats and picked up a gold medal, three silver medals and one bronze medal at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association. TU tied with Purdue for the women's points trophy, marking the second time in as many years that TU has won the team title. Tulsa's Lightweight 4+ captured the top finish with a time of 7:34.5, four seconds ahead of Stetson, to earn an automatic bid to the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships in June. The Varsity 4+ finished second to Alabama. Both the Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 8+ also registered second-place marks with times of 6:49.17 and 6:55.7, respectively, trailing Alabama in both events. In the Novice 8+, Tulsa tallied a time of 7:06.54 to finish third, just four seconds behind Kansas State and three seconds behind Purdue.)
SOFTBALL (33-11, 14-4 C-USA)
Lost at Houston 2-0 (Tulsa allowed two runs in the sixth and was unable to get on the board in a narrow loss in Houston. Sophomore centerfielder Caitlin Everett and sophomore shortstop Samantha Cobb picked up the two hits for the Golden Hurricane. Freshman pitcher Aimee Creger lost just her second game of the season. She gave up just three hits and two runs in 6.0 innings.)
Lost at Houston 9-1 (5 innings) (After losing a tight first game, Tulsa was defeated by way of a run rule in the second game of a doubleheader. Freshman leftfielder Shelby Blanton was 2-for-2 in picking up the only two hits for the Golden Hurricane. Cobb had the lone RBI and Everett scored the lone run. Senior pitcher Jordan Kinard allowed eight runs and eight hits in just 3.1 innings. Sophomore Lacey Middlebrooks threw the final 0.2 innings and allowed just one unearned run.)
Won at Houston 1-0 (11 innings) (Tulsa won the series finale to maintain a one-game lead over Houston in the C-USA standings. The Golden Hurricane belted out nine hits and earned the hard-fought victory in 11 innings. Cobb scored the game-winning run following an RBI single from Creger. Creger also pitched all 11 innings and earned the win after allowing no runs on seven hits. Freshman third baseman Jill Barrett and Cobb both had two hits to pace TU.)
MEN'S TENNIS (15-7, 6-0 C-USA) Nationally Ranked No. 35
Lost at No. 6 Texas A&M 6-1 (Junior Ashley Watling dominated a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles, but Tulsa dropped a decision in College Station. TAMU won all three doubles matches and defeated TU in five of six singles matches. In most singles matches, the Tulsa players were broken late in their matches and dropped narrow decisions.)
WOMEN'S TENNIS (22-2, 3-0 C-USA) Nationally Ranked No. 20
Defeated Memphis 5-2 (The Golden Hurricane pushed its win streak to 17 matches by wrapping the regular season with a 5-2 win over the Tigers. Seniors Alexandra Kichoutkin and Jo-Anne Karaitiana each won two matches on Senior Day. TU won the doubles point and picked up victories in four of the six singles matches. Freshman Sam Vickers also won twice, and fellow freshman Maria Sant'Anna won at No. 6 singles.)
OUTDOOR TRACK
Competed at the Mt. SAC Relays (Junior Carl Stones and senior Paula Whiting both set school records in Walnut, Calif. Stones broke the school record in the 3,000 meters Steeplechase with a mark of 8:50.12, and Whiting is the new record holder in the 5,000 meters (15:46.91). Senior Lewis Timmins posted the second-fastest mark in school history in the 10,000 meters with a time of 29:26.64. Sophomore Mitch Johnson ran the 10,000 meters in 29:56.68, which was third-fastest in school history. Sophomores Ashley Scott and Jaclyn Rollins ran the fourth and fifth fastest times in school history in the 5,000 meters. Sophomore Geraint Davies ran the fourth-fastest mark in school history in the 5,000m.)
Competed at the John Jacobs Invitational (Junior Sam Masters and sophomore Kevin Mayer finished 1-2 in the 3,000 meters. Masters ran a 3,000m of 8:20.71, which was the second fastest in school history. Sophomore Chris O'Hare narrowly edged out senior teammate Justin Duncan for the 800-meter victory. O'Hare clocked a time of 1:49.98, which was fifth-fastest in school history. Sophomore Carolin Imhof finished second in the Javelin (35.63m), and sophomore Erin Huddleston finished third in the 1,500m. Senior Laura Englehutt and sophomore Tricity Andrew finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 3,000 meters.)
