Student-Athlete of the Week
Week of April 25 - May 1
Freshman Johannes Veerman (Men's Golf) has maintained a 3.38 grade-point average in chemistry. The Sugar Land, Texas native finished fifth at the C-USA Championship this past week to help lead Tulsa to a third-place team finish. Veerman opened the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 1-under par 71, and he shot an even-par 72 in the final round to end the tournament at 2-under and tied for fifth.

MEN'S GOLF
Finished third at the C-USA Championship (Tulsa held the second-round lead and finished third overall at the 2011 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship this past week. The Golden Hurricane carded a 4-over par total of 868 at the par 72 6,935-yard Texarkana Country Club. TU freshmen John Young Kim and Johannes Veerman finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Junior Stephen Carney finished 16th, sophomore Chris Worrell placed 34th and junior Arie Fauzi was 45th.)
SOFTBALL (38-12, 16-5 C-USA)
Defeated Missouri State 4-0 (Freshman pitcher Aimee Creger picked up her 20th win of the season with a two-hit, 13-strikeout gem against the visiting Bears. Sophomore center fielder Caitlin had two of TU's seven hits, and she also scored a run. Sophomore shortstop Samantha Cobb led the way with two runs batted in.)
OUTDOOR TRACK
Competed at the Drake Relays (Senior Paula Whiting and sophomore Chris O'Hare competed against Olympians and both broke school records at the prestigious Drake Relays. Whiting ran the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:19.78, and O'Hare ran the mile in 3:58.77 and finished third in his event. Senior Justin Duncan won the seeded race of the 1,500 meters with a mark of 3:45.61. Junior Carl Stones finished third in the 3,000m Steeplechase after clocking an 8:58.40. Senior Lewis Timmins finished third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:08.42.)
