Tulsa Golfers Miss Cut for NCAA Championship

San Diego, Calif. - The Tulsa golfers completed its season at the NCAA San Diego Regional with an 11th place performance. Tulsa shot a final round 17-over par 305 and finished the 54-hole event with a total of 891 at the par-72 Farms Golf Club.

The top five teams -- UCLA, Southern Cal, San Diego, Ohio State and Texas -- advanced to the NCAA Championship, May 31-June 5, at Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Okla. UCLA overtook fellow Pac-10 foe Southern Cal on the final day for the regional title with a score of 282 for a 10-under par total of 854. The Trojans finished second with a score of 857.

Tulsa's 305 was its worst round of the tournament after turning in an opening round 300 and a two-under par 286 on Friday.

For the Hurricane, freshman John Young Kim finished on 24th place with a score of 219 after today's round of 76. Sophomore Chris Worrell also turned in a 76 in the final round and finished with a 224 total for 46th place. Junior Stephen Carney finished in 51st place with a 227 score, while fellow junior Arie Fauzi placed 54th overall with a score of 228.

Freshman Johannes Veerman finished in 61st place with a score of 230, but turned in Tulsa's best round on Saturday of three-over par 75.

The individual title went to UCLA's Patrick Cantlay with a 13-over par 203 score, six strokes better than second place Steve Lim of Southern Cal.
