Tulsa's Ayer Selected as C-USA Postgraduate Scholarship Winner

Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky named the 12 recipients of the Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship Awards today, and Tulsa women's soccer player Mackenzie Ayer was among them. The conference annually presents the $4,000 Postgraduate Scholarship awards to graduates as selected by the C-USA Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by their Board of Directors.Ayer was a three-year letterwinner who helped post 11 shutouts in 38 games played. While at Tulsa, she served as the team captain for two seasons and was a key member of the team's defensive unit. A three-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal, Ayer graduated with a double major in communication and psychology, and a minor with an emphasis in advertising. The Lake Quivira, Kan., native has been accepted into TU'S Industrial/Organizational master's program.
This is the third year the award has been named for Dr. Castañeda, who served Rice University for 46 years as an educator, coach and Faculty Athletics Representative before he passed away in November 2008.
