The Tulsa women's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over Northwestern State on Sunday afternoon at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex in Natchitoches, La. TU moved to 4-2-1 on the season, while NSU fell to 4-3 overall.

"I was proud of the way we played," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "We created chances and didn't allow a counter-attack, and we played with intensity. It truly takes all of us giving 100-percent. Now we are looking forward to coming home and playing back in Tulsa for the first time after being on the road the last two weeks."

Shelby Martin came in off the bench and scored big for Tulsa with just 35-seconds remaining in the first half as she punched in a rebound off a previous shot attempt by Lindsay Kirch. Stephanie Aitken gave TU a two-goal cushion in the 54th minute off an assist from Jordan O'Brien.

Seven Golden Hurricane players had two shot attempts in the contest, while another five players had one shot. TU dominated the field, owning a 19-3 advantage in shots, including a 9-2 lead in shots on goal, and had an 8-0 lead in corner kicks. Tulsa didn't allow the Demons a shot in the second frame.

Katie Bykowski logged 67:32 in goal and picked up two saves, while Hayley Harryman saw her first action of the season for the remaining 22:28 of the contest. Since the two split time in goal, neither get credit for the shutout, but this was the fifth team shutout this season.

Tulsa will return to action on Friday, Sept. 16th against Utah State. Game time is set for 7:30 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
