Tulsa Softball Falls to Sooners 7-1

Norman, Okla. - The No. 25-ranked Tulsa Golden Hurricane held Oklahoma scoreless through the first five innings, but the 4th-ranked Sooners scored six runs on six hits in the top of the seventh inning for a 7-1 victory in the winners bracket game of the NCAA Norman Regional on Saturday afternoon.
Tulsa will play again tonight with an expected game time of 6:00 pm in a losers bracket game against the winner of the Oregon State-Lehigh game. That game begins at approximately 3:50 pm this afternoon.
The Hurricane couldn't get to Sooners All-American pitcher Keilani Ricketts, as the junior limited Tulsa to three hits, while striking out 10 Hurricane batters.
Tulsa took a 1-0 lead against the Sooners in the second inning when Jessica Stoelke's grounder to shortstop scored Skylar Swanson.
Hurricane pitcher Lacey Middlebrooks limited the Sooners to three hits through the first five innings. She gave up six runs on five hits in the sixth inning before giving way to freshman reliever Kalynn Schrock.
The Sooners added a run in the seventh inning.
Tulsa defeated Oregon State in yesterday's opening round with a 9-7 win in 11 innings, while Lehigh lost to the Sooners 19-3 on Friday.
