Tulsa Golfers in 8th Place at John Hayt Collegiate

Tulsa junior Logan McCracken is in 12th place after two rounds at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational.

Jacksonville, Florida - Tulsa junior Logan McCracken is in 12th place after two rounds at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational, while the Tulsa men's golf team sits in 8th place in the 15-team field. The Hurricane carded a second round score of 297 for a 36-hole total of 589 at the par-72 Sawgrass Country Club.

Tulsa trails fourth-place, where there's a four-way tie, by just two strokes with its' 589 score. North Florida continues to lead the field with a 17-under par score of 559 after two days, 12 strokes better than second-place and 11th-ranked Duke (571). UCF (299) is in third place, while the four teams in a fourth-place logjam at 587 are 14th-ranked Arkansas, #33 North Texas, #7 Florida and #12 LSU, sitting ahead of the Hurricane.

McCracken carded his second straight day of even par 72 for a 144 total. He began the day with a birdie on the par-4 number one hole, but suffered a double bogey on the par-3 sixth. Birdie putts on the par-5 eighth and par-3 13th hole put McCracken at one-under par before closing out the round with a bogey to end the day with his second straight 72.

Matt Mabrey and Chris Worrell moved into 31st place tie after both golfers turned in rounds of 73 today for a 36-hole score of 148. Mabrey played even-par through the first nine holes on all pars, but bogeyed two holes and had one birdie on the back-nine. Worrell started out poorly, going three-over par on the first two holes, but rebounded with birdie putts on the par-5 eighth and 11th holes and par-3 12th hole. Worrell gave a shot back on the next hole with a bogey on the par-4 13th hole.

Mark Mumford and Colton Staggs are in 55th and 59th place, respectively. Mumford had a score of 79 today for a 152 total, while Staggs finished the day with an 81 for a 153 total score.

UNF senior Kevin Phelan continues to lead the tournament with a two-day score of 13-under par 131. He carded a second round score of five-under par 67 today to take a four-stroke lead in the individual race.

The 54-hole tournament concludes on Tuesday with the final 18 rounds.
