Tulsa Women Earn Double-Overtime Win Over Missouri State

Springfield, Mo. - Darienne Chapman scored her first career goal and the game-winner in the 104th minute to give Tulsa a 1-0 win over Missouri State in double overtime on Sunday evening at Plaster Field in Springfield, Mo. TU moved to 2-0 on the season, while MSU fell to 0-2 overall.
"We knew it was going to be a battle because this is the third year in a row we've gone into double overtime with Missouri State," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "We just kept the pressure on them and finally we were able to get a goal. It is great to be 2-0 and I am glad we found a way to win and persevere. We also pride ourselves in clean sheets, so I am proud of the fact that we played well defensively today and got the shutout."
Chapman's goal was headed in off a corner kick taken by Jordan O'Brien at the 103:13 mark for the win.
Claire Nicholson, Bradi Hinch, Alexa Sidorakis and O'Brien each had three shots in the game, while six other Hurricane players attempted one shot. Hayley Harryman logged all 103:13 between the posts and picked up three saves.
Tulsa had an 18-4 lead in shots, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal, and took all seven corner kicks in the contest.
The Bears had four players each attempt one shot and Jessica Perry recorded seven saves.
Tulsa will return to action on Friday, August 30th against Gonzaga. Game time is set for 7:30 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
