Tulsa Golfers Place 12th at Windon Memorial Classic

Evanston, Illinois - The Tulsa men's golf team finished in 12th place in the 16-team field at the Windon Memorial Classic on Monday. The Hurricane carded a final round 302 and finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 897 at the par-72 Knollwood Club Course.
Tulsa junior Matt Mabrey carded a second straight round of 72 to finish the tournament in 19th place with a two-over par 219 total. Senior Mark Mumford placed 24th overall with a four-over par 220 after turning in a score of 75 to close out the tournament.
Senior Logan McCracken placed 57th overall with a 228 total after today's round of 78. Junior Colton Staggs placed 72nd with a score of 228 after a round of 77, while freshman Matthew Marquez placed 87th with a score of 249 in his first collegiate tournament.
Host Northwestern, beginning the final round three strokes behind second-round leader Kent State, shot a score of even-par 288 for a four-under par 860, while Kent finished in second place at one-under par 863. Three Big 10 teams rounded out the top-five with Michigan (872) in third place and Ohio State and Purdue tying for fifth place with 875 scores.
Michigan's Chris O'Neill held on to his second-round lead and finished with a three-under par 69 on Monday to close the tournament at eight-under par 208 for medalist honors.
The Hurricane is in action next at the UAB Shoal Creek Invitational, September 30-October 1.
