Tulsa's Rachel Thun Receives Three American Athletic Conference Accolades

Tulsa's Rachel Thun was named as the American Athletic Conference women's soccer Rookie of the Year.Nov. 6, 2014

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Tulsa's Rachel Thun was named as the American Athletic Conference women's soccer Rookie of the Year, and was tabbed to both the First Team All-Conference and All-Rookie Team, as announced today by the league office. Tana Dake and Christina Holmes were also selected to the All-Rookie Team.

Thun, a freshman midfielder from Oklahoma City, Okla., started in 19 of 20 games, and had eight goals, seven assists and 23 points this season. She tallied two goals against Central Arkansas, and one goal against Arkansas State, Missouri State, UMKC, Texas Tech, Temple and Cincinnati. Thun had at least one goal in four-straight contests, as well as two game-winners on the year. She had 56 shots, 26 of which were on goal, for a .464 shots-on-goal percentage.

A freshman midfielder from Claremore, Okla., Dake started in 20 of 21 games. She had three goals, including two goals against Oral Roberts and the game-winner versus Cincinnati, and two assists for eight points. Dake had 15-of-32 shots on goal.

Holmes, a freshman forward from Yeadon, Pa., had a team-leading nine goals. She posted two goals against UConn and Houston, and one each versus Central Arkansas, Oklahoma State, UCF, Temple and SMU. Holmes also had an assist against Cincinnati for 19 points on the year. She had 22 shots, 14 of which were on goal, for a .636 shots-on-goal percentage, the best for a TU player with more than 20 attempts this season.
