On Sunday afternoon, 33 members from The University of Tulsa Spirit Squad volunteered at the Down Syndrome Association of Tulsa's (DSAT) 13th Annual Buddy Walk that took place on the campus of Oral Roberts University.
The Buddy Walk is a half-mile walk designed to promote the understanding and acceptance of people with Down syndrome. The family-friendly event forms teams to support their "Buddy" with Down syndrome. Nearly 6,000 people attended the event at ORU.
DSAT uses the monies raised through Buddy Walk to provide information on Down syndrome to new parents, doctors & hospitals, promote education & inclusion programs and to enhance the lives of individuals with Down syndrome, their families & their communities.
