LAWRENCE, Kan. – Senior Marc Scott won the NCAA Midwest Regional individual championship, and both the Tulsa men's and women's cross country teams placed fourth at the regional meet at Rim Rock Farm.

Scott turned in a 10K time of 29:37.1, and qualified as an individual for the NCAA Championships, which will take place Nov. 21 in Louisville, Ky. Senior Rachel Baptista led the TU women's team with a fifth-place finish in a 6K time of 20:22.7. Both Golden Hurricane teams await possible at-large bids to the NCAA Championships. The field will be announced Saturday morning on NCAA.com.

"We were proud of our (men's) one-two-three punch – they've been doing it for us all year," Tulsa Head Coach Steve Gulley said. "We have to do a little better with the four and the five (positions), but that's something we knew we would be weak in, because we don't have the experience. Only two of our seven runners had ever run at an NCAA Regional. Marc is a good runner, but I think the rest of the nation is just starting to notice it. Our women's team ran great. I'm very pleased with their performance. I thought they ran tough, and competed to the best of their ability."

The Tulsa men's team finished fourth with 127 points, behind Oklahoma (104), Minnesota (95) and Oklahoma State (59). The women's team placed fourth with 151 points, behind Minnesota (125), Iowa State (98) and Oklahoma State (51). TU tied in points with Kansas, but claimed fourth place by beating KU runners in three of the five positions. The fourth-place finish tied a program-best for the women's team, matching the 2014 result.

Scott and Baptista earned all-region honors along with junior Luke Traynor and sophomore Ben Preisner for the men's team, and sophomore Nicole Lee for the women's team.

Traynor finished seventh with a time of 29:58.9, and was followed by Preisner, who placed 11th with a time of 30:17.7. Sophomore Adam Roderique finished 39th with a time of 21:08.8, and freshman Jay Ort rounded out the scoring with a time of 31:38.2 to finish 70th.

Lee finished in 21st place with a time of 20:55.0, and junior Stacie Taylor placed 29th with a time of 21:07.3. Junior Clara Langley and sophomore Danielle Medearis finished 38th and 59th, with respective times of 21:21.3 and 21:36.5.

Friday's win was the fourth victory of the season for Scott. He also won races at the Chile Pepper Festival, Wisconsin Invitational and the American Athletic Conference Championships. Scott is Tulsa's third regional champion in the last four years. He finished second in 2014, and Chris O'Hare won the regional meet in 2012 and 2013.
