Tulsa Opens Conference Slate Against East Carolina
            Tulsa will open American Athletic Conference play against East Carolina at home on Wednesday, December 30.  Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
 
The Last Game
            Ashley Clark and Erika Wakefield both had a team-best 14 points, but it wasn't enough as Tulsa fell to Northern Iowa, 75-59, on Sunday afternoon at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
            Jessica Pongonis scored eight points in her first career contest for Tulsa, while Kelsee Grovey and Crystal Polk both added six.  Clark and Jordyn Holmes both had a team-leading six rebounds.
            Tulsa had 36 points in the paint and 21 points off the bench, while UNI had 16 points in the paint and 16 points off the bench.
            Northern Iowa had a 38-36 lead in rebounds and an 18-9 advantage in assists, while both teams had five steals and TU had a 2-1 lead in blocks.
 
The Opponent
            East Carolina finished the non-conference slate with a 6-6 overall record, but dropped their last five-straight games.  The Pirates have not played a home game since November 20, marking the TU game their ninth-straight road contest.
            ECU is led by a trio of players in double figures, including Jada Payne (20.3), I'Tiana Taylor (13.7) and Marina Laramie (11.6).  Payne and Taylor both post over nine rebounds per game with 9.8 and 9.0, respectively. 
 
Series History
            This will be the 16th meeting in the all-time series with East Carolina as the Pirates have an 8-7 lead.  Both teams picked up road wins last season, including a 74-63 win for TU in the last contest.
 
Clark Named to The American Preseason Team; Hurricane Picked Sixth
            Tulsa guard Ashley Clark was named to the American Athletic Conference preseason all-conference second team, while the team was picked to finish sixth in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.  In the coaches' poll, UConn was predicted to win the 2015-16 American Athletic Conference Championship, while USF was second and Temple third.  East Carolina, Tulane, Tulsa, Memphis, SMU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston round out the poll.
 
Adding Up
            Tulsa junior Ashley Clark became the ninth women's basketball player in school history to score 1,000 career points and one game later Kelsee Grovey tallied her 1,000th point.  Clark currently has 1,216 points and Grovey has 1,163 points.
 
Mossman Has 210 Career Wins
            Matilda Mossman reached the 200-win milestone as Tulsa captured a 70-61 win over UCF on Jan. 31, 2015.  Mossman had 67 wins at Arkansas, 80 wins at Kansas State and currently 63 wins at TU for 210 career victories.

            Four current Tulsa women's basketball players have earned their way into Tulsa's Top 10 career lists.
- Ashley Clark is third in double-doubles (11), fourth in field goals made (480), sixth in points (1,216), seventh in rebounds (623), ninth in assists (236) and 10th in free throws made (212)
- Kelsee Grovey is second in three-point field goals made (188), sixth in assists (255), seventh in points (1,163) and three-point field goal percentage with a .367 clip (188 of 511), eighth in free throw percentage with a .815 clip (181 of 222) and steals (149), and ninth in field goals made (392)
- Ashley Hughes is seventh in free throw percentage with a .821 clip (23 of 28)
- Teanna Reid is second in three-point field goal percentage with a .403 clip (50 of 124)
 
The League Opponents
            Tulsa will play host to 10-time National Champion UConn, as well as NCAA Tournament participants USF and Tulane, in American Athletic Conference action.
            Six teams in The American advanced to postseason play last year, as East Carolina, Temple and Tulsa competed in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.
 
UConn to Host American Championship
            UConn will host the 2016 American Athletic Conference Championship at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., from March 4-7.
