TULSA GOLFERS IN SEVENTH PLACE AT UTSA OAK HILLS

San Antonio, Texas - The Tulsa men's golf team sits in seventh place following two rounds a on Monday at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational. The Hurricane carded rounds of 289 and 297 for a 586 total on the par-71 Oak Hills Country Club course, as senior Matt Mabrey is in 14th place after a two-round score of 144.
Baylor leads the field with a 572 score, followed by UTSA (577) in second place, Sam Houston State and Houston Baptist tied for third place at 582) and Wichita State (584) rounding out the top-five.
Tulsa had the second-best opening round of the tournament with a five-over par 289, just five strokes behind Baylor's even-par score of 284.Tulsa's first round scores included an even-par 71 from Colton Staggs, scores of 72 from Francisco Yanez and Matt Mabrey and a round of 73 from Sebastian Smith.
The second round of the day was not as productive as the earlier round for the Hurricane with a score of 297, but Mabrey turned in an even-par 71 for his 36-hole total of 144. Staggs is in 23rd place overall after his second round 75 put his two-round score at 146.
Yanez is in 38th place with a 149 total, Sebastian Smith in 55th place at 152 and Matthew Marquez's 153 total is good for 60th place.
Individually, there is a three-way tie for first-place with Preston Stanley of Houston Baptist, Baylor's Kyle Jones and Logan Boatner of Sam Houston State scoring identical rounds of four-under par 138.
The final18 holes will be played on Tuesday.
