TULSA MEN OPEN SPRING GOLF SEASON AT OAK HILLS INVITATIONAL

San Antonio, Texas - The Tulsa men's golf team tees off this morning at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational to open the spring season.
Tulsa is one of 15 teams to play the par-71 Oak Hills Country Club course in San Antonio, Texas. Thirty-six holes will be played on Monday with the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
The Hurricane finished in 15th place a year ago. The other teams competing include Baylor, Central Arkansas, Denver, Houston Baptist, UL-Lafayette, LA Tech, North Texas, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma, Rice, Sam Houston State, Texas State, Wichita State and host UTSA.
The Hurricane goes into the tournament with seniors Colton Staggs and Matt Mabrey and sophomores Matthew Marquez, Sebastian Smith and Francisco Yanez.
The seniors, Staggs and Mabrey, pace the Golden Hurricane. Staggs had a 72.1 stroke average in 11 rounds during the fall season, while finishing first at the Windon Memorial Classic to open up the fall campaign. Mabrey turned in a 72.7 stroke average in 11 fall tournaments, while finishing among the top-20 three times.
