Tulsa Men’s Soccer Team Hosts SMU in Conference Opener on Saturday

The Tulsa men's soccer team will open American Athletic Conference play against SMU on Saturday, Sept. 26 beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. The TU-SMU game will be broadcast live on the American Digital Network, which can be viewed for free HERE!

Tickets are $5 general admission and can be purchased at the north ticket gate, online at TulsaHurricane.com or by calling the TU Athletic Ticket Office at 918.631.4688. Youth 12 and under can get in free by wearing a soccer jersey, and TU students can show their student ID to receive free admission at the gate.

The Golden Hurricane concluded non-conference action with a 4-3-1 overall record, but faced four top-25 opponents, including three in the top-five, in the early season. The Golden Hurricane tied #2 Virginia (1-1, 2OT), and fell to #1 Creighton (1-0), #4 North Carolina (2-1) and #22 Saint Louis (1-0, 2OT).

Tulsa ranks sixth in total assists (17), seventh in total points (49) and ninth in total goals (16) among the nation's best.

Tulsa has tallied 16 goals this season from 10 different players, including a team-best four scores from Juan Sanchez. Miguel Velasquez, Cameron Drackett and Bradley Bourgeois each have two goals. TU also has 17 assists from 11 players, including three from Geoffrey Dee.

SMU enters the contest with a 4-2-2 overall record, but are 0-1-1 on the road this season. The Mustangs are led by Mauro Cichero who has a team-best four goals and four assists. Three other players have two goals, while five have scored once. Michael Nelson has played all 777:48 between the posts, picked up 27 saves and has three shutouts.
