Cross Country Set for Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa cross country teams will run at the prestigious Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Friday at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wisc.
 
The women's 6K race will begin at 12:30 p.m., and the men's 8K race will begin at 1:20 p.m. The meet central page can be found at: go.wisc.edu/2016Nutty, and live results can be found at: go.wisc.edu/nuttyresults. The meet will also be streamed live on FloTrackPro (subscription required).
 
Tulsa is one of 31 schools participating in the meet. The No. 26 TU men's team is one of 18 ranked teams and an additional six receiving votes, along with: No. 1 Northern Arizona, No. 2 Syracuse, No. 3 BYU, No. 7 Portland, No. 8 Iona, No. 11 Stanford, No. 14 Iowa State, No. 15 Eastern Kentucky, No. 16 Wisconsin, No. 17 Georgetown, No. 18 Boise State, No. 21 Colorado State, No. 22 Michigan State, No. 23 Washington, No. 24 Providence, No. 25 Penn, No. 29 Illinois, Columbia, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Princeton, Southern Utah and Washington State.
 
The women's team is just outside of the top-30 by one voting point after ranking 28th following its win at Oklahoma State on Sept. 24. TU is joined in the race by 18 ranked opponents and five others receiving votes, including: No. 1 Providence, No. 3 North Carolina State, No. 4 Washington, No. 6 Michigan State, No. 10 Boise State, No. 11 New Mexico, No. 15 BYU, No. 17 Yale, No. 18 Georgetown, No. 19 San Francisco, No. 20 Syracuse, No. 21 Baylor, No. 23 Utah, No. 24 SMU, No. 26 Iowa State and Penn, No. 28 Notre Dame, No. 29 Harvard, Minnesota, Princeton, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Villanova.
 
This will be the second straight year the Golden Hurricane has competed at the Wisconsin meet. Last year, TU's Marc Scott won the men's individual race and the team finished eighth, drawing national attention and leading to an eventual at-large bid at the NCAA Championships.
