
Tulsa Men’s Tennis Splits Doubleheader Sunday Afternoon

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa men's tennis team defeated No. 63-ranked Wichita State in a 4-3 decision Sunday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, but in the first match of the day the No. 23-ranked Golden Hurricane lost to Purdue in a 4-3 decision.
Against Wichita State, Tulsa lost courts one and three of the doubles giving Wichita State a 1-0 dual lead going into singles play. In singles play, Tulsa won courts three, four, five, and six before losing on courts one and two ending the dual 4-3. This is the second time this season in which Tulsa has lost the doubles point, and then battled back to win four singles matches claiming a 4-3 victory. The first time TU lost a doubles point and came back to win four singles matches to win the dual was last weekend against No. 36-ranked Notre Dame.
Tulsa lost two of the three doubles matches against Purdue giving the Boilermakers a 1-0 dual advantage going into singles play. In singles play, Tulsa won courts two, four, and five, but it wasn't enough as Purdue went on to win courts one, three, and six to end the dual 4-3.
