Softball Plays Host to Arkansas Tuesday

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa softball team will face Arkansas at 5 p.m. Tuesday in a home non-conference contest at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
The Golden Hurricane defeated the Razorbacks 4-3 in Fayetteville on March 16. The Hurricane (27-10, 5-4 American Athletic Conference) is 4-3 in their last seven games, and will attempt to rebound from a tough weekend in which it dropped three games at UCF. The Razorbacks (16-25, 1-11 SEC) dropped two of three at South Carolina over the weekend.
Tulsa will play two midweek games this week, with a conference bye this weekend. Following Tuesday's home contest, TU travels to Springfield, Mo., to take on Missouri State (14-21, 3-7 Missouri Valley) at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Tulsa leads the series against Arkansas, 16-12. The Golden Hurricane has won six in a row, and eight of the last nine meetings against the Razorbacks. TU also won last season, 5-4 in Fayetteville, and 10-2 in Tulsa. The last Arkansas win in the series was 14-3 at a neutral site tournament in 2013.
The Hurricane trails the series against Missouri State (, 24-21. TU has won 11 in a row in the series, including a 9-2 victory in Tulsa last season, and an 11-0 win in Springfield in 2014. The win streak dates back to 2007. The Bears last defeated TU in 2006 in Springfield.
Freshman designated player Julia Hollingsworth leads Tulsa with a .408 batting average and .477 on-base percentage, and has totaled 23 RBI and 20 runs. Junior third baseman Maggie Withee hits .390 with 37 runs, seven doubles, 18 walks and a .476 on-base percentage. Sophomore shortstop Shelby Estocado hits .352 with a team-high nine home runs and .667 slugging percentage, and has six doubles, 30 RBI and 36 runs. Senior catcher Catherine Horner hits .317 with nine doubles, 24 runs and 20 RBI, and junior left fielder Maddie Withee leads Tulsa with 39 RBI, and hits .296 with six doubles and five home runs.
Senior Caitlin Sill leads Tulsa in the circle with a 1.38 ERA and a 15-3 record. She has allowed a .231 opponent batting average, 22 earned runs and 97 hits in 111.2 innings. Sophomore Emily Watson is 9-7 with a 2.32 ERA, has 125 strikeouts and has allowed 29 earned runs on 69 hits and a .208 opponent batting average in 87.1 innings.
Tulsa is hitting .306 with 227 runs, 204 RBI, 48 doubles, 22 home runs, eight triples, a .440 slugging percentage and a .389 on-base percentage. The Hurricane pitchers have posted a combined 2.12 ERA with 210 strikeouts in 231.0 innings, and allowed a .235 opponent batting average, 209 hits and 70 earned runs.
