Softball’s Shelby Estocado Named to USA Baseball Women’s National Team

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa junior Shelby Estocado and former TU softball standout Samantha Cobb were selected to the 2016 USA Baseball Women's National Team, USA Baseball announced.
Estocado and Cobb will compete with the Women's National Team at the World Baseball Softball Confederation Women's Baseball World Cup, Sept. 3-11 in Gijang, South Korea.
Estocado, a shortstop from Las Vegas, Nev., was an All-American Athletic Conference First Team selection last season. She led the Golden Hurricane with 11 home runs and 47 runs scored, and hit .329 with 41 RBI and eight doubles.
Cobb, a native of Garland, Texas who played at TU from 2010-13, has competed with USA Baseball since 2012. She was a part of the 2015 USA Baseball Women's National Team that won a gold medal at the Pan American Games in Toronto.
The Women's National Team will play four exhibition games in California from Aug. 27-30, before departing for Gijang, South Korea for the World Cup tournament. USA will compete against Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei and Australia in group play, Sept 3-6. The bracketed rounds will take place Sept. 7-10, and the finals will be played on Sept. 11.
