Tulsa Women’s Soccer Team Hosts Tulsa Classic This Weekend

9/8/2016 9:55:00 AM | Women's Soccer

The Tulsa women's soccer team will host the Tulsa Classic, which features a game against Oklahoma on Friday, September 9 at 7:30 pm, followed by a game vs. Rice on Sunday, September 11 at 3:30 pm.  TU will also host two neutral site games with Memphis playing Rice on Friday at 5:00 pm, and Memphis taking on Oklahoma at 1:00 pm on Sunday.

Tickets are $5 general admission and can be purchased at the north ticket gate, online at TulsaHurricane.com or by calling the TU Athletic Ticket Office at 918.631.4688.

Fans unable to attend the match in person can watch it live on TulsaHurricane.com/watch.  There is a 24HR Pass, a Monthly Pass and Yearly Pass that allow you to watch all TU home men's and women's soccer, volleyball and softball games depending on the package purchased.

The Golden Hurricane enters the weekend with a 3-2-1 overall record, including a 2-0 mark at home this season.  Under the direction of Head Coach Kyle Cussen, TU has tallied a 37-5-4 home mark in non-conference games for an 84-percent winning percentage.  TU has not lost a regular season non-conference game since falling to #13 Penn State on Sept. 15, 2013.

Rachel Thun has a team-best three goals and three assists, while Tana Dake, Anna Williams and Christina Holmes both have two goals.  Rebecca Defer has logged 425 minutes in goal and picked up 23 saves, while Courntey McKeon has played 135 minutes between the posts and has eight saves.

Thun has already earned her way into the Tulsa record books, as she is tied for fourth on TU's all-time assists list with 18.  She is currently tied with Melissa McCormick (1998-01) for fourth-place, but needs just one more to tie Shari Rozmus (1988-91), Jamie German (2002-05) and Jordan O'Brien (2010-13) for first place.

Oklahoma has a 3-2-1 mark this season, including a 4-1 win over then 25th-ranked Loyola Marymount and a 1-1 tie vs. #24 South Carolina.  The Sooners are led by Kaylee Dao with two goals, while eight others have one score.

Rice enters the weekend with a 2-1-1 mark, with their one loss coming at the hands of #8 Texas A&M.  Aliza Wolfe has two goals for the Owls, while eight others have one score.
