The University of Tulsa Men's and Women's Cross Country teams were named 2016 Division I Men's and Women's All-Academic teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Thursday afternoon. Henry Pearce and Adam Roderique were honored as All-Academic Individuals on the men's side while Clara Langley earned the nod for the women.

The Hurricane men finished 11th at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. in the fall and were ranked 16th entering the final weekend of the season, making them the highest ranked team in the state of Oklahoma. Tulsa won their third straight American Athletic Conference title while placing five runners in the top-10.

Pearce (Loughborough, England) ran fourth at the conference meet with a time of 24:20.5 in the 8k while Roderique (Chesterfield, Mo.) followed in fifth place with a time of 24:22.6. Pearce and Roderique helped the Hurricane to a runner-up finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships as they finished 10th and 11th respectively.

The Tulsa women finished sixth at the NCAA Midwest Regional and were led by Langley (Kingston, Canada), who finished 16th with a time of 20:41.4 in the 6k. At the American Athletic Conference meet, Langley ran seventh for a Tulsa squad that placed four runners in the top-10.

In order to qualify for the team award, each team needed to have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0 while individuals had to have a GPA greater than 3.25 and finish in the top-25 at regionals or as an All-American at the national meet.
