The Tulsa women's soccer team fell, 3-1, to #22 Nebraska on Sunday morning in the Kansas Invitational at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kan. TU moved to 0-1-1 on the season, while the Huskers moved to 2-0 overall.

"The girls played really well today against a physical team," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "We knew we had to play through the midfield and we did that today. The movement in the midfield, the fact that we didn't back down physically and that they made good decisions in the way we played on the field was great. We showed a lot more maturity and the team's confidence is getting better. There are a lot of positives that we can take away from today in moving forward with the season."

Elyse Huber scored off a direct kick taken by Sami Reinhard to put Kansas up 1-0 at the 25:46 mark, but six minutes later Anna Williams headed in a cross from Addyson Guthrie to even the score, 1-1.

Huber added a second goal in the contest for the Huskers in the 69^th minute and Haley Hanson headed in a corner kick in the 73^rd minute for the 3-1 score.

"In the second half we had two opportunities to go up 2-1, but we were unfortunate not to finish our chances," Cussen said. "When you let a team like Nebraska hang around they'll put a lot of pressure on you. When we went down 2-1 we had to take more risk and that opened it up a little more and let them score again."

Nebraska had a 19-6 lead in shots, including an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal, and a 7-2 lead in corner kicks.

Tana Dake had a team-best two shots, while four others added one attempt. Rebecca Defer played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded five saves.

Tulsa will return to action on Friday, August 25 against Kansas. The game is set for 5:30 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
