XC Back In Action At Cowboy Jamboree On Saturday

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa cross country teams return to action on Saturday, Sept. 30 when the Golden Hurricane will compete at the annual Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater.
The oldest cross country race in the nation, the Cowboy Jamboree will feature Tulsa along with Iowa Central CC, Kansas State, Missouri, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oral Roberts, Penn State, Stephen F. Austin and Wichita State. The women's 6K race will start at 9:15 a.m. followed by the men's 8K at 9:45 a.m.
The TU men's squad will enter the event ranked No. 22 in the latest USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll and will be one of three ranked teams at the meet along with No. 9 Oklahoma State and No. 25 Ole Miss.
Meanwhile, the TU women's squad moved up a spot to No. 9 in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region rankings after winning the Missouri Southern Stampede on Sept. 16. Nicole Lee took fourth in the 5K race with a time of 17:29.87, which was the second-fastest 5K of her career. Ashley Barnes (5th), Alyssa Bolliger (8th) and Jenny O'Bryan (10th) each finished in the top-10 as the Golden Hurricane comfortably won the event with a team score of 39 points, 80 points ahead of second-place Dallas Baptist.
The Cowboy Jamboree will be the first of two final tune-ups for the teams before the American Athletic Conference Championships on Oct. 28 in Philadelphia.
