Tulsa XC Set for NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa men's and women's cross country teams will take part in the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday at the Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Ill.
The day will start with the women's 6K race at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 10K run at noon.
The men's squad received a vote in the latest USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll and is ranked third in the Midwest Region. Meanwhile, the TU women are ranked 12th in the Midwest Region poll.
Coming off their ninth straight conference title, including five consecutive American Athletic Conference crowns, the men's team is looking for a seventh appearance in the NCAA Championships in the last eight years. The top two teams and top four individuals not on an advancing team from each region earn automatic bids to the NCAA Championships, which will take place Nov. 17 in Madison, Wis.
The Midwest Region consists of Division I schools located in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri and Illinois, across 13 conferences. A total of 35 women's teams and 31 men's teams will run in the meet on Friday.
Two weeks ago at The American Championships, the Golden Hurricane ran well despite the rainy and muddy conditions to claim first place on the men's side and a runner-up finish for the women's team.
Six men's runners and three women's runners earned all-conference honors at the meet. The men were led by Scott Beattie, who posted his second straight top-5 finish at the conference championships with a runner-up time of 27:09.02.
Caitlin Klopfer paced the women with a 6K time of 22:52.97 to earn sixth place, while Jenny O'Bryan followed in seventh place.
