PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Tori Stafford and Emily Watson have been named American Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, the league office announced on Monday.

Stafford hit .412 (7-for-17) with two doubles, a triple, a home run and 10 RBIs to lead Tulsa in six games last week. The junior also scored four runs and recorded a .476 on-base percentage and an .824 slugging percentage. Stafford had three multi-hit games, including a 2-for-4 outing against Iowa State where she hit a three-run homer and drove in a career-high-tying four runs. She also had a pair of hits in wins over Illinois State and Omaha. In the field, Stafford recorded 24 putouts and two assists without committing an error at first base.

Meanwhile, Watson went 3-0 with a 0.67 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 21.0 innings in the circle. The senior started the week with a dozen strikeouts in a victory over Illinois State before eight more Ks and just one run allowed to help TU defeat Iowa State. Watson saved her best outing for last, going off for a season-high 15 strikeouts and allowing just one hit in a shutout of Saint Francis (Pa.). The shutout was the 26th of her career and her third of the season.

This is the second conference Player of the Week honor for Stafford, who also earned the award once last season (March 13), while this is the 11th career Pitcher of the Week award for Watson and her second this season.

Stafford, Watson and the Golden Hurricane (18-11) will be back in action at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21 when they host No. 21/25 Oklahoma State (21-6) at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
