Tulsa will conclude play at the Texas Invitational at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, when it will face Sam Houston State.
Game One
Chenise Delce allowed just four hits and two runs in five innings, but No. 11 Texas defeated Tulsa 2-0 on Saturday afternoon, the second day of the Texas Invitational.
Josie Muffley, Morgan Neal, Jesse Smith and Haley Meinen had hits for the Golden Hurricane. Neal's hit was a double in the top of the first for her team-leading fifth two-bagger of the season.
Meanwhile, Shealyn O'Leary and Miranda Elish combined on the shutout for the Longhorns (11-1). Texas scored both of its runs in the bottom of the second to provide O'Leary and Elish all the run support they would need.
After Neal's one-out double to left in the first, O'Leary retired the side with a pair of fly balls. Delce also worked around a double in the first with a strikeout and two grounders.
Texas broke through in the bottom of the second, scoring two runs on three hits. Kaitlyn Slack pushed across the first run with a bunt before Reagan Hathaway's RBI single made it 2-0.
Tulsa had chances to score late in the game as it left a runner stranded on third in the sixth and again brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh. However, Elish got two strikeouts in the seventh to nail down her first save of the season.
Game Two
Haley Meinen tied the game with a homer and Chenise Delce completed the seventh-inning comeback with the game-winning RBI single as Tulsa defeated Sam Houston State, 3-2, on Saturday night.
Josie Muffley had a season-high three hits atop the Tulsa lineup, while Kassidy Scott gave up two runs in 6.2 innings of a no-decision. Samantha Pochop came on in relief to pick up the win and move to 3-2 on the campaign.
Tulsa jumped ahead with a run in the bottom of the second with a two-out RBI single from Rylie Spell.
However, the Bearkats (5-10) scored a run in the sixth and one in the top of the seventh to take a 2-1 lead.
The advantage was short-lived as Meinen took the first pitch in the bottom of the frame over the wall in left for her first home run of the season. Muffley then singled and moved to second on a grounder. That set the stage for Delce, who dropped a single into right-center field that allowed Muffley to come around and score the winning run.
