THE STORYLINES . . .
•   Tulsa is in its 120th season of football this year, as college football celebrates its 150th year.
•   Tulsa has the smallest FBS enrollment with 3,297 undergraduate students, while another private institution, SMU, has an enrollment of 10,893 students.
•   The first time these two teams met on the gridiron was on this same date, Oct. 5, 1935, as SMU won 14-0 in Tulsa.
•   The Tulsa and SMU defenses are allowing similar numbers – Tulsa allows 26.2 points and 378.5 yards per game, while SMU has allowed 26.6 points and 366.4 yards per contest.
•   Offensively, though, SMU averages 44.4 points, Tulsa only 21.5 points … SMU gains 510.6 yards of total offense, while the Hurricane averages 363.0 yards per game.
 
THE SERIES . . .
•   This is the 26th meeting between Tulsa and SMU.
•   SMU leads the series 14-11-0, while holding a 9-4-0 record in Dallas.
•   Tulsa won last year's game at home by a score of 27-24.
•   The Hurricane is 4-1 against the Mustangs since the two have been members together in the American Athletic Conference.

•   Tulsa went 2-2 in non-conference games this year, as those opponents have combined for an overall 14-5 record for a .737 winning percentage.

GAME–WINNING & GAME-SAVING . . .
•   In Tulsa's last outing, Tulsa claimed a 24-21 comeback win over Wyoming.
•   Wyoming took a 21-17 lead with 5:25 left on the game clock, then Tulsa took possession and went 75 yards in 7 plays in 1:59 for a 24-21 lead at the 3:26 mark.
•   Wyoming drove to the Tulsa 10-yard line before Cooper Edmiston forced a fumble that was recovered by Reggie Robinson II at the 3-yard line for the win.
•   It was Robinson's first fumble recovery of the season and second of his career.
 
PLAYER NOTES . . .
•   RB Shamari Brooks has had back-to-back 100+ rushing games with 140 yards at San Jose State and 107 against Oklahoma State.
•   In the last 2 games, CB Reggie Robinson has had an interception vs. Oklahoma State and a blocked field goal and fumble recovery against Wyoming.
•   DE Trevis Gipson has 6.5 TFLs among his 18 total tackles this year … he had 2 TFLs at Michigan State, 2.5 TFLs at San Jose State and 2 TFLs vs. Wyoming.
•   Zach Smith's 354 yards passing in Tulsa's against Wyoming was the first 300+  passing game for a Tulsa quarterback since the 2016 Miami Beach Bowl when Dane Evans threw for 374 yards against Central Michigan.
•   Smith's 300+ yards was his first in a Tulsa uniform, but the fourth of his career.
•   It took Tulsa until the 12th game last year to have a 100+ receiver, while it happened in just the second game this season.
*   Tulsa has had back-to-back games with a 100-yard receiver for the first time since the 2016 season – Sam Crawford, Jr. and Keylon Stokes.
•   LB Cooper Edmiston has 14 career double-figure tackle games, with his last one coming at San Jose State with 11 stops.
•   TE Denzel Carter caught his first pass of his career (2 games) and it went for an 8-yard touchdown at San Jose State … it was the first catch for a tight end this year.
•   RBs TK Wilkerson vs. San Jose State and Shamari Brooks vs. Oklahoma State had multiple TD games.
