Tulsa Opens Season Next Friday at Mercer Invitational



TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa softball team will open its 2020 season at the Mercer Invitational in Macon, Ga., next weekend, Friday-Sunday, February 7-9.
 
The Golden Hurricane, under first-year Head Coach Crissy Strimple, open the campaign with two games on that first Friday of February, the first contest against Tennessee Tech (9 am) and Eastern Kentucky (11:15 am) to follow. Games against host Mercer (3:45 pm) and again Eastern Kentucky (8:15 pm) takes place on Saturday. Tulsa closes out the opening weekend on Sunday with an 11:15 am game against Dayton.
 
Strimple leads her team into the season with 10 returning letterwinners and 4 starters and from last year's NCAA Tournament team. Strimple takes over the reins of the Hurricane program after serving the past 14 years on the Tulsa coaching staff, including the past eight years as associate head coach.
 
Tulsa has been picked to finish in third place in the American Athletic Conference this year. The Hurricane will play 15 games before opening the home season with the TU-OSU Invitational, February 28-March 1, at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
