TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa's 2020 softball schedule consists of 11 NCAA Championship participants, including 3 of the 8 teams that advanced to the 2019 Women's College World Series, it was announced today by first-year Head Coach Crissy Strimple.

The College World Series teams on the Golden Hurricane schedule include runner-up Oklahoma, Minnesota and Oklahoma State. Additional 2019 NCAA participants on the Tulsa schedule are Arkansas, Drake, Houston, Illinois, Louisiana, Louisville, Mississippi State and USF.

Tulsa will play 17 games against those NCAA tournament teams, including 7 at the Collins Family Softball Complex. State rivals Oklahoma and Oklahoma State headline Tulsa's home schedule in 2020.

The Hurricane is coming off of a 37-win season that ended in the NCAA Stillwater Regional against the OSU Cowgirls. Strimple takes the reigns of the program after spending 14 years as a player and coach with the Hurricane, including the last 8 seasons as the associate head coach.

"We have a great schedule in 2020 that will challenge our team early," stated Strimple. "Early in the season, we will face postseason and World Series teams testing the strength of our team and preparing us for the tough American Athletic Conference slate."

Tulsa opens its 2020 season with 3 straight road tournaments beginning with the Mercer Invitational, Feb. 7-9, in Macon, Georgia with five games. Next up, the Hurricane travels to Starkville, Mississippi on Feb. 14-16 to face off in the Bulldog Kickoff Classic before wrapping up the 15-game road swing in Waco, Texas, at the Baylor Invitational, where Tulsa will play World Series foe Minnesota twice and NCAA participant Illinois once.

The Hurricane is co-hosting the TU-OSU Tournament, Feb. 28-March 3, as games will be played in both Tulsa and Stillwater. Tulsa welcomes Oregon, Illinois-Chicago and NCAA Tournament teams Drake and Louisville to the Collins Family Softball Complex.

"We are excited to have really good programs travel to Tulsa this season," added Strimple. "Our fans will be able to watch some of the most elite college softball teams from Collins Family Softball Complex this season."

Tulsa hits the road for the FIU Classic, March 5-7, before hosting Western Illinois in a mid-week non-conference match-up. Tulsa travels to Lawrence, Kansas for the Jayhawk Invitational on March 13-15.

Following the Jayhawk Invitational, Tulsa will spend five straight games on its home field beginning with Missouri State (Mar. 18). Tulsa opens conference play against UConn, March 20-22, before ending the home stretch with a non-conference game against Oklahoma State (Mar. 25).

On Tuesday, April 7, Tulsa takes on the NCAA National Championship runner-up Oklahoma at home in a mid-week contest.

A seven-game road swing begins with a conference series against Wichita State, April 9-11. The Hurricane then completes the home-away series with Oklahoma State making a trip to Stillwater on April 15. A series in Houston, April 17-19, completes the road stretch for the Hurricane, while beginning the first of two series against NCAA Tournament teams.

The regular season will come to a close after a home series against 2019 NCAA participant USF (Apr. 24-26) and a three-game road trip to Memphis, May 1-3.

Postseason play gets underway at the American Athletic Conference Softball Championship in Orlando, Florida, May 7-9.
