
Caitlin Klopfer Named American Athletic Conference’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award

The Tulsa junior also named women’s cross-country’s top scholar-athlete
IRVING, Texas –– The University of Tulsa cross-country and track star Caitlin Klopfer was selected as the American Athletic Conference's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as announced today by the league office.
The Tulsa junior claimed the top female honor among candidates from 12 conference-sponsored women's sports. Her recognition as the women's cross-country scholar-athlete of the year is the second straight season that a Tulsa runner has earned the honor.
As The American's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Klopfer will receive a $4,000 postgraduate financial scholarship.
Klopfer, from Manchester, Missouri, has maintained a 3.9 grade point average as a double major in chemical engineering and French.
A nine-time all-conference selection, Klopfer led the Hurricane women harriers to their third AAC title in the last six years and a school-best second-place finish at the Midwest Regional and 25th place performance at the NCAA Cross-Country Championships.
She finished in third place at The American Championship and fifth at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
Klopfer earned USTFCCCA All-Midwest Region and all-conference honors in the 2019 fall season. The junior was Tulsa's top finisher in six of seven meets for the Golden Hurricane.
