Tulsa Softball Picked 4th in AAC Preseason Coaches Poll

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa softball team was picked to finish fourth in the American Athletic Conference Preseason Coach's Poll, it was announced today.
Under first-year head coach Crissy Strimple the Golden Hurricane had the second-best start in school history, going 7-0 out of the gate during the 2020 season. When the Covid-19 pandemic ended the season, TU held a 13-11 record with wins over Mississippi State, Maryland and Dayton.
UCF was selected to win the conference by the AAC head coaches, receiving 6 of the 7 first place votes. USF (31 points) landed in second, while Houston (23 points) was chosen to finish third.
Tulsa garnished 20 points and the fourth spot, as Wichita State (18 points), East Carolina (11 points) and Memphis (8 points) closed out the poll.
The Hurricane return its trio of dynamic pitchers with Samantha Pochop, Chenise Delce and Kassidy Scott returning to the circle. Pochop (4-2) last season finished 6th in the NCAA in earned run average with a 0.87 clip.
Alexis Perry returns for TU after leading the team with a .318 average, 21 hits and 15 RBIs during the 2020 season. She leads a Hurricane offense that returns 8 of the 9 starters from last season, including second basemen Sarah Briers and outfielder Tajiah Ellison.
The Hurricane is ready to take the diamond this spring, starting team practice Tuesday, Jan. 19.
