Tulsa Men Place Sixth at NCAA Championship

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– The 10th-ranked Tulsa men's cross-country team finished in sixth place out of 31 teams at the NCAA Cross Country Championship on Saturday morning at the Apalachee Regional Park cross country course.

The finish ties last season's performance for the second-best in school history next to the 2019 fifth-place finish. The top-five teams included Northern Arizona, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Arkansas and Stanford. No team with a lower rank finished above the Golden Hurricane, but Tulsa did finish above No. 2 BYU, No. 5 Colorado, No. 4 Notre Dame and No. 8 Wisconsin.

It was a fast race, with the top time coming from BYU's Conner Mantz, who finished the 10K race in a course-record 28:33.1. In his first appearance at the NCAA Championship, Cormac Dalton paced the Golden Hurricane, clocking a 29:28.5 time for 34th place. Peter Lynch finished in 42nd place, traversing the course in 29:32.6.

Michael Power placed 51st in 29:39.7, and Scott Beattie took 58th in 29:45.2, bettering his 89th place finish a season ago. Also finishing for the Hurricane were Isaac Akers (86th), Shay McEvoy (148th) and Chris McLeod (157).
