The Tulsa women's soccer team earned their first-ever win over UCF on the women's soccer pitch with a 3-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  The Golden Hurricane moved to 1-1 on the season, while the Knights fell to 2-1 overall.

TU snapped a 15-game winless streak against the Knights as UCF owned a 14-0-1 series record coming into the game.

"We have been telling this group that they are a special group," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said.  "They are very unified and they work hard.  To do something that no other team has done in program history is special, and to do it on our home field is even better.  I don't think we played our best, but we found a way to win.  I'm proud of them and excited for our future."

UCF's Trescott Shamlou punched one into the back of the net with just 6:37 ticked off the clock, but Gabriella Borboa evened the score just eight seconds later off a cross from Kayla Fernandez.

Liliana Fernandez put TU up 2-1 in the 36th minute off a forward pass into the box from Borboa and the Hurricane held onto that lead at the break.

Emily Brandenburg scored from a yard out as Madison Tokarchik put a corner kick into the box, Isold Runarsdottir controlled the ball and Brandenburg punched it in at the 58:40 mark.

Katie Bradly pulled the Knights to within one (3-2) in the 80th minute, but UCF couldn't get the equalizer in the final 10 minutes to give Tulsa the win.

Liliana Fernandez had a team-best three shots, two of which were on goal, while Mia Darden added two attempts, and Brandenburg, Borboa and Kayla Fernandez all had one attempt.  Emma Malsy logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up five saves.

UCF had a 23-8 lead in shots, including a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal, and a 13-5 lead in corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, March 7 against Cincinnati beginning at 1:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
