Tulsa Men Place Three Runners Among Top-20 as Hurricane Finish in 6th Place at NCAA Championship

Tulsa women finish in 28th place behind Caitlin Klopfer’s top-70 finish
STILLWATER, Okla. –– Patrick Dever turned in Tulsa's first-ever top-5 individual performance at the NCAA DI Cross Country Championship on Tuesday at the OSU Cross Country Course.
The Tulsa men finished in 6th place in the field of 30 teams, its second-best finish in school history, behind last year's 5th place performance.
The top-5 teams included Northern Arizona, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Arkansas and Stanford. The Hurricane finished above the nation's top-ranked coming into the event and the defending national champion BYU Cougars, which came in 7th place.
Dever's teammates Patrick Lynch and Isaac Akers finished among the top-20 as all three earned All-America status.
Dever finished with a 10K time of 30:00 to earn his second All-America honor after finishing in 11th place a year ago. Lynch placed 12th, finishing one spot ahead of his 2019 NCAA performance, with a time of 30:17.7, and also receiving All-America honors for the second consecutive season.
Akers placed 19th with a time of 30:25.4, bettering his 100th place finish from a year ago. Akers earns his first All-America honor with his top-20 performance.
Also finishing for Tulsa was Scott Beattie in 89th place, Cameron Field in 151st and Shay McEvoy in 157th place in the field of 251 participants.
The Tulsa women, making its fourth NCAA Championship appearance, finished in 28th place overall.
Senior Caitlin Klopfer had her second straight top-70 finish at the national event as the senior finished in 69th place with a time of 21:16.4, while junior Caroline Miller was Tulsa's next finisher in 158th place with a time of 21:54.6
Tulsa's Katharina Pesendorfer finished in 180th place, followed by Alice Newcombe in 192nd, Jenny O'Bryan in 197th, Layla Roebke in 233rd and freshman Abbey Yuhasz in 236th place.
The BYU women won the title, while NC State, Stanford, Michigan State and Minnesota placed among the top-5 teams.
