Seven Tulsa Teams Earn Academic Excellence Award in the AAC

Tulsa is the conference leader this year


IRVING, Texas –– The University of Tulsa had a league-high seven teams earn the American Athletic Conference's Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2020-21 academic year.
 
The seven Tulsa teams being recognized with the Academic Excellence Award are women's basketball (3.410 GPA), men's indoor track & field (3.520 GPA), men's outdoor track & field (3.520 GPA), men's soccer (3.467 GPA), softball (3.559 GPA), men's tennis (3.601 GPA) and women's volleyball (3.611 GPA).
 
The Team Academic Excellence Award is awarded to the institution in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest cumulative grade point average for the year. Cincinnati was second to Tulsa for teams honored this season with a total of six and the next closest was Temple and Tulane with three each.
 
The men's track & field team has now won the award for the sixth time in its seven years as a league member.  The Hurricane track team was also the recipient of the award in the 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2018-19 and the 2019-20 seasons.
